aliasing

A type of distortion that occurs in digital representations of analogue information when the number of different digital values is not sufficient to distinguish between all possible analogue signals. In graphics, it shows itself in the form of jagged edges or jaggies, especially when images are resized. See also anti-aliasing.

The glossary contains nearly 700 terms. Except for some common mis-spellings and Americanisms, definitions are only returned if they match the term you entered exactly. If you cannot find a definition for a term you expect to be in the glossary, try consulting the full list of terms.
