upsampling
In computer graphics, changing the resolution of a bitmapped image to a higher value by means of interpolation. This may be in order to match the image resolution to that of an output device, or to increase the number of pixels for use in further processing. In audio, the process of changing the sample rate of digital audio to a higher value. See also downsampling and resampling.
