You can find a selection of XHTML and CSS examples, including ones that are equivalent to some of the examples in this chapter, at the support site for WebDesign: A Complete Introduction under Examples. In particular, Chapter 3 of that book is about XHTML, Chapter 4 is about CSS and Chapter 10 has some examples of CSS layouts.

We have added event handlers (see Chapter 14) to the hot spots on this image map, so that when you click on the map, the link destination will be displayed in the box below the map – you won't actually go to the destination URLs (they do not exist). This will only work if you have JavaScript enabled in your browser. The passages and the dark grey areas surrounding the rotunda do not have any hot spots attached.
